New Delhi: Now it is the Virat Kohli era as after equalling the record of Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag by hitting six double centuries in Test Cricket, the Indian skipper has now completed 1000 runs in the calendar year of 2017.

It is to be mentioned that Kohli was the first batsman to aggregate 1000 runs in ODI in 2017.

With 240 runs on board, Kohli broke his own highest score record of 235 runs in Test Cricket. His earlier highest score record was against England at Mumbai in 2016.

Virat Kohli also passed the 5000-run mark in Tests during the second session of day one of the third and the final Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Meanwhile, India scored a mammoth 500/5 at lunch on the second day with Kohli and Saha are at the crease.

For Sri Lanka, Sandakan was the only successful bowler in the morning session as he chipped in Rohit.
