New Delhi: Indian archer Jyoti Balyan disappointed in the women's individual compound open ranking round at the Tokyo Paralympics. She finished 15th in this event, scoring 671 points during this period. Jyoti was behind from the beginning in this competition and she got tough competition from her rivals.

Jyoti Balyan at 15th Rank:

Jyoti Balyan finished 11th out of 24 with 168 points after 18 arrows in the first round. In the next six shots, she slipped to 13th place with 278 points. After this, in the first round, Jyoti finished 12th with 36 arrows with 333 points.

Jyoti Balyan made a consistent start in the qualification round and scored three sets. She was 13th after 30 out of 72 arrows in the qualification round. In the second round, she dropped a few places to 16th, including 444 points after 12 more shots. Jyoti Balyan finished 16th with 613 points before the last six shots. But after coming back she managed to get 58 more marks. After this Jyoti came in 15th place.

India has sent a 54-member contingent to the Tokyo Paralympics, which will challenge India in nine events. This is the largest contingent sent by India to any Paralympics so far. The Indian contingent consists of athletes who have won medals in the Paralympic Games in the past. This time too, the country is expected to win more medals than these athletes.

Paralympic Games started from the year 1968 in which India's performance has been good. Indian para athletes have so far won a total of 12 medals including four gold, four silver and four bronze medals in these Games.
