Tokyo Paralympics: Bhavina & Sonal Patel lose their first Table Tennis match

New Delhi: India's Bhavina Patel has suffered a defeat in the women's singles table tennis event of the Tokyo Paralympics. In the women's singles Class-4 Group A match, Bhavina was defeated 3-0 by Chinese player Zhou Ying. Bhavina performed brilliantly in her first group match but could not get past the Chinese player. Indian table tennis player Bhavina will now play her second group match on 26 August.

Bhavina loses even after brilliant performance:

India's table tennis player Bhavina had to face defeat in this match in straight sets. Throughout the match, Indian players were seen struggling in front of Ying. Zhou Ying managed to defeat Bhavina 11-3, 11-9, 11-2 in this match. Earlier, Sonal Patel also had to face defeat in another match.

Tokyo Paralympics:

India has sent a 54-member contingent to the Tokyo Paralympics, which will challenge India in nine events. This is the largest contingent sent by India to any Paralympics so far. The Indian contingent consists of athletes who have won medals in the Paralympic Games in the past. This time too, the country is expected to win more medals than these athletes.

Sonal Patel's next match on 26th Aug:

India's Sonal Patel suffered a defeat in the table tennis event at the Tokyo Paralympics. She defeated Chinese player Li Qian 3-2 in the Women's Singles Class-3 Group D match. Thus India got off to a disappointing first day at the Tokyo Paralympics. Now the next match of Sonal Group will be played on 26th August.

In this match, Sonal got off to a great start and won the first game 11-9 in six minutes. She stunned world fourth seed Li Qian and Rio Paralympic silver medalist with her performance and once she even came close to victory. But the Chinese made a comeback and defeated Sonal 11-9, 3-11, 17-15, 7-11, 4-11.
