New Delhi: The men's singles event of tennis at the Tokyo Olympics has undergone a major upset. World number one Novak Djokovic has suffered a loss in the semi-final match. He was defeated by fourth seed German player Alexander Zverev.

With this defeat, the Serbian legend's dream of winning the Golden Slam by winning his first Olympic gold medal has also been shattered. Djokovic was trying to win Olympic gold with four main Grand Slams in a calendar year, but Zverev completely destroyed his dream.

Zverev defeated 1-6, 6-3 and 6-1 in a two-hour-long match between the two players. However, at the beginning of the match, Djokovic showed a great game and within just 37 minutes won the first set 6-1.

But after that Zverev came back strongly and took the second set 6-3 in 45 minutes. After this, even in the last set, Zverev did not give any chance to Djokovic and completely dominated him.

Zverev won the last set 6-1 in 41 minutes. With this victory, the German player was able to reach the final.

In the title match, Zverev will now face 12th seed Karen Khachanov of the Russian Olympic Committee. At the same time, there will be a match between Djokovic and Spanish player Careno Busta for the bronze medal.
