New Delhi: The golden victory of Haryana's golden boy Neeraj Chopra in the Olympics is actually a journey of 26 meters to 87.58 meters. Ten years ago, at the age of 13, Neeraj Chopra of Khandara village, weighing 80 kg, threw the javelin 26 meters for the first time at the Shivaji Stadium.

Neeraj Chopra's Golden tale:

Then the senior javelin thrower who held the javelin in his hands, Jaiveer Singh alias Monu of Binjhol village and Jitendra Jaglan of Shanti Nagar in Model Town were left in astonishment. Even throwers who had practiced for a year could not throw the javelin so far.

Both the athletes had dreams of playing in the Olympics, but could not succeed due to injuries. Now his disciple Neeraj not only gave him Guru Dakshina by winning the gold medal in the Olympics, but has been recorded in the pages of sports history. Along with this, he had to be scolded for breaking the spear made of bamboo.

Struggle Neeraj's life:

Neeraj's journey till here has been full of struggle. Once he was scolded for breaking a javelin pole. Eyes were moist. Neeraj has already won gold medals in big events from school to university and Olympics.

In 2012, in the first national competition in Under-16, he made a national record by throwing 68m javelin. In 2014, he made a national record in Under-18 with a gold throw of 76.50 meters.

Golden journey of Neeraj Chopra:

In 2015, he equaled the national record of 82.23 meters of Haryana's Rajendra Nain. In 2016 he created a new record in Under-20 by breaking the world record and India's Rajendra Nain by throwing 86.48 meters.

Won gold medals in Commonwealth and Asian Games in 2018. In 2021, a new national record of 88.07 meters was set. He won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics by throwing the javelin to a distance of 87.58 meters.

Neeraj Chopra was scolded for breaking a bamboo javelin worth Rs 200 earlier. A bamboo javelin worth Rs 200 broke while practicing at the Shivaji Stadium. The senior player expressed his displeasure and said that no more javelin will be available from the sports department. How will you practice?

He did not answer back, but was determined that by doing this I would show that there would be no dearth of expensive javelin for practice. He has shown the same by doing the same.

Now he has dozens of javelins worth Rs 1.5 to 2 lakhs to practice. Pramindra Dhonchak, who practices at Shivaji Stadium, got selected in the nursery of Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula in 2011. He took Neeraj to Panchkula. This is where Neeraj's success journey started.
