New Delhi: Bajrang Punia has entered the semi-finals of the 65 kg weight category. India's biggest hope at the Tokyo Olympics, Bajrang made it to the next round by directly hitting Morteza Cheka of Iran in the quarterfinals.

Bajrang was trailing 0-1 in the first round. In the second round, Bajrang played such a bet that he directly reached the semi-finals. Bajrang is just one step away from the medal.

After this match, the gold hopes of the whole country have become stronger. He will now face Rio Olympic bronze medalist and three-time world champion Haji Alijeev in the semi-finals. Bajrang defeated Aliyev in the Pro Wrestling League two years ago.

Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya bagged the silver medal after losing in the final of men's 57kg freestyle category to Russian Olympic Committee's (ROC) Zavur Uguev on Thursday. This is India's fifth medal at the Tokyo Olympics and the second silver of the campaign.

Ravi Kumar is the fifth Indian wrestler after KD Jadhav, Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, and Sakshi Malik to finish on the Olympic podium.

The 23-year-old Indian had beaten Bulgaria's Georgi Vangelov in the quarters (14-4) and Colombia's Oscar Tigreros in the round of 16 (13-2) by technical superiority.
