Gallle: Following Shikhar Dhawan's awe-inspiring 190-run knock, classic Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has also joined the party, hitting 12th century of his career on the first day of opening Test match of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at Galle International stadium here on Wednesday.

Pujara, often called India's best Test batsman, has hit eight fours in his 100-run knock.

It may be mentioned here that in his 49-match Test career, Pujara averages healthy 52.96. He has scored 3904 runs in red-ball Cricket with a high score of 206.

Together with Dhawan, he shared crucial 253-run stand for the second wicket.

The day was upsetting was captain Kohli as his rough patch in Tests continued. He has scored just 49 runs in his last six innings at an avearge of 8.16.

India is 326/3 after 70 overs with Pujara (106) and Rahane (9) at the crease.
