Sixteen-year-old shuttler Lakshya Sen clinches Bulgarian Open title

Sofia (Bulgaria): Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen, 16, defeated second seed Zvonimir Durkinjak, almost double of his age, of Croatia to clinch the Bulgarian Open men's singles title here on Thursday.

The junior World No.1 Lakshya got off to a shaky start but edged past the 29-year-old Croatian player 18-21, 21-12, 21-17 in a match which lasted around one hour.

Earlier, Lakshya had outplayed Dinuka Karunaratna of Sri Lanka 21-19, 21-14 in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Lakshya had earlier won the India International Series defeating Lee Zii Jiam of Malaysia in 2016.
