Rio 2016: Serena Williams knocked out from the Olympics

Rio de Janeiro: In a bad news for the fans of world number one tennis star Serena William, the former was knocked out from the ongoing Olympics after she lost to Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina.

Serena suffered the defeat by a player whom she never lost in the past. She was beaten by 6-4 6-3.

It may be mentioned that Williams had already been knocked out of the doubles tournament along with sister Venus Williams.

Svitolina, ranked 20th in the world, was beaten 6-1 6-1 by Williams in their last meeting at the French Open in June last.

Svitolina will next play two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.
