When Sehwag and MS Dhoni pushed Virat Kohli’s career!!!
New Delhi: Former destructive Indian batsman Virender Sehwag has already set the commentary box on fire with his witty one liners. On a serious note though, Viru, while doing commentary in the ongoing 3rd Test of IndvsEng, made a revelation when he said that it was him and Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni who played key role guiding Virat Kohli’s career to some extent.
“The selectors wanted Rohit Sharma in place of Virat Kohli in the third Test in Perth against Australia in 2012. I was the vice-captain and MSD was the skipper of the side. We decided to go ahead with Virat and rest is the history,” revealed 38-year old former batsman.
Kohli went on to score 75 and 44 run-knocks in the Perth Test followed by his maiden century in the red ball Cricket at Adelaide. It not only cemented his place in the Indian side but made him out to be a world class batsman for all times to come.
Earlier, when Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Indian Cricket team for regaining top spot in Test Cricket, Viru took Master Blaster’s tweet, saying, “Oh God ji, kabhi kabhi Commentators ko bhi encourage kar diya kijiye. Thoda Motivation mil jaayega.”
