Sehwag wants Pujara to transform for T20 Cricket, hails Amla

New Delhi: Former Indian batsman and Kings XI Punjab coach Virender Sehwag on Wednesday said that Cheteshwar Pujara needs to re-invent him and believes that the technically correct batsman will also come to the expectations in the shortest format of the game.

Citing the example of Hashim Amla, Viru said the way former has transformed himself in T20 Cricket is worth praising. He admitted that he expect the same from Pujara.

"Amla knows how to adapt to different formats, he knows how to play in what situation. As far as Pujara is concerned, he played for us but may be the hopes we had from him he did not come up to that expectations. But this happens when you play only one format, it becomes difficult to play in other format," said Sehwag.

"Pujara’s reputation is that of a wonderful Test batsman and not T20. Hope in coming years, he will improve his skills for the shorter format and hope he gets picked by some team next year," he added.

Amla has been one of the most consistent players in the ongoing Indian Premiere League- 10 with two fifties and a ton.

It may be mentioned here that Glenn Maxwell led Kings XI Punjab has won three games out of seven outings.

Calling Amla a nice person, the 38-year old cricketer said, "He is talking to youngsters like Manan Vohra and results are coming."
