New Delhi: Thousands of sports enthusiasts along with her parents received Rio Olympics bronze medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik at Indira Gandhi Airport on Wednesday with a lot of fan fare. An overwhelmed Sakshi thanked all those who were present on the occasion with a promise to bring gold in Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Hailing from Haryana, the diminutive wrestler said she had to go through a rigorous training for twelve years to realise the dream of Olympics medal.

Sakshi said that the love,affection and support of the countrymen will act as a catalyst to raise her bar in the time to come.

''Right now, I am feeling tired. Would like to take some rest, spend some time with the family to be back to the wrestling arena shortly,'' she told the gathering adding '' yes, the gold at Tokyo will be the next target for me.''

It may be recalled that Sakshi Malik has done proud to the entire country by being one of two medalists at Rio Olympics concluded in Brazil on August 21.

It could be mentioned that Sakshi Malik has been made the brand ambassador of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign in Haryana.

"Sakshi, who won bronze for the nation is now the brand ambassador of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign in the state," said Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The programme focuses on empowering girl child and generate awareness regarding the welfare sources meant for women.
