Saina Nehwal outshuttles Porntip in Hong Kong Super Series opener
Kowloon: Indian ace-shuttler Saina Nehwal entered second round of Hong Kong Super Series outshuttling Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand in the opener on Wednesday.
London Olympics bronze medallist Saina defeated World No. 12 Thai shuttler by 12-21, 21-19, 21-17 in a fighting game.
Earlier, fifth-seeded Indian had lost in the opening game of China Open to the same opponent.
Saina will play the winner of the game between Chiang Mei Hui and Japan’s Sayaka Sato at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
Meanwhile, India suffered a setback with Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy losing in men’s doubles pair. They were defeated 15-21, 8-21 to Korean pair of Solgyu Choi and KO Sung Hyun.
