Lucknow: Ever since getting hitched to Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma has been having a roll with the bat at the international cricketing circuit, but this time his off-field gesture has enhanced the respect for the sportsman to another level.

Mohamed Nilam, a fanatic Cricket fan from Sri Lanka, was in India with two more companions Gayan Senanayake and Pubudu to watch the India vs Sri Lanka series. They had the return tickets to Sri Lanka of December end after the T20I series concludes.

But an unfortunate news arrived halfway through the series when Mohamed was told that his father was diagnosed with throat cancer and immediately needed to undergo an operation. The operation was scheduled before the T20I series starts on Wednesday.

Well, Mohamed, like any other son in this world, immediately wanted to rush back to his father but was unable do so because of shortage of money for the return tickets.

His story was conveyed to stand-in Indian skipper Rohit Sharma by the die-hard Sachin Tendulkar fan Sudhir Gautam.

Immediately after coming across Mohamed's problems, Rohit arranged the return tickets for him from New Delhi to Sri Lanka.

Talking to an Indian news portal, Mohamed said, "Rohit called me to the team hotel and gave me the (Rs 20,000 approx) ticket. The surgery was successful. I was shaken from inside when I heard about my father."

"Rohit has a very kind and big heart. He wasted no time in arranging my return ticket. He is a gem of a person," he added.

Rohit Sharma undoubtedly did a fantastic job, but Virat Kohli, who was busy on his honeymoon with Anushka Sharma, too contacted Mohamed and asked if he needed any sort of help.

"Virat also messaged me and asked about the health of my father. He also offered to provide me all the help I wanted," Mohamed said.
