Mohali: Hitman Rohit Sharma creates history as he becomes the first batsman to score three double centuries in One Day International (ODI).

His spectacular knock of 208 runs (153 balls) helped India to set a mammoth total of 392 runs in stipulated 50 overs against Sri Lanka in the second ODI match played at the Punjab Cricket Association's IS Bindra Stadium here on Wednesday.

Sharma's 208 runs included 13 fours and 12 sixes. He was engaged in two big partnerships of 115 runs for the opening wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (68 runs off 67 balls) and then 213 runs for the second wicket with Shreyas Iyer (88 runs off 70 balls).

Coming into the match, the Mumbaikar was the only batsman to have hit two double tons.

Rohit had earlier scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka at at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and 209 runs against Australia.

With this double ton, his 16th 100 plus score, Rohit Sharma comes at number 4th spot in India's all-time centurion list. The first three are - Sachin Tendulkar (49), Virat Kohli (32) and Sourav Ganguly (22).
