Maharashtra duo Gugale-Bawne scripts record partnership in Ranji Trophy

Mumbai: Breaking 70-year old partnership record, Maharashtra pair of skipper Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawne made a historical partnership of 594 runs against Delhi in the Group B match of 2016-17 Ranji Trophy at the Wankhede stadium here on Friday.

Maharashtra duo broke the previous all-time best fourth wicket partnership stand of 577 runs made by Vijay Hazare and Gul Mohammed playing for Baroda against Holkar in 1946-47.

Swapil Gugale, who is captaining the side for the first time, scored 351 runs studded with 37 fours and five sixes while Ankil Bawne hit 258 runs laced with 18 fours and two sixes.

Maharashtra has declared its 1st innings at 635/2.
