Hong Kong: India has faced two major setbacks on the same day with Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma beaten in their respective finals in the Hong Kong Open tournament here on Sunday.

Indian star-shuttler PV Sindhu was surpassed by Chinese Taipei Tai Tzu-Ying 15-21, 17-21 in women’s singles. The one-sided game lasted 41 minutes.

Earlier, Sindhu lost in the Denmark Open final in 2015. Later, she won 2016 China Open title.

Sameer Verma, playing his maiden Superseries final, lost to China’s Ng Ka Long Angus 14-21, 21-10, 11-21 in a 50-minute clash.
