PV Sindhu bring laurels, wins China Open, PM Modi congratulates

Fuzhuo: Adding one more feather to her cap, Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu won the China Open Superseries Badminton tournament defeating China’s Sun Yu. This was the maiden China Open title for the seventh seed.

Sindhu was dominating throughout the game. She surpassed Sun Yu 21-11, 17-12, 21-11 in a game which lasted 69 minutes. Earlier, Sindhu had outshined Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea 11-21, 23-21, 21-19 in the semi-finals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated PV Sindhu on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Before Sindhu, it was Saina Nehwal who had won the title in 2014.
