New Delhi: With wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s provisional suspension, the doors for the Rio Olympics 2016 have certainly opened for rookie Praveen Kumar Rana for the 74 kg weight category.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Tuesday declared Praveen Rana as Narsingh’s replacement.

Narsingh, who failed dope test two day ago, is almost out of the big tournament.

In 2014, Praveen had bagged a gold medal in the 74 kg weight category at the Dave Schultz Memorial wrestling tournament in USA.

Provisionally suspending Narsingh, United World Wrestling (UWW) on Tuesday announced his restriction from competing in the Rio Olympics.

Rana will be only given preference if Narsingh fails to convince National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) panel on Wednesday.
