New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Indian women's hockey team, which missed out on a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, on Friday. During this many players started crying. However, the PM consoled everyone.

Let us tell you that the Indian women's hockey team, which reached the semi-finals on the strength of an unexpected game, lost to Britain on Friday in the bronze medal play-off match.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister said- 'You all have played very well. Sweated so much, since 5-6 years. Worked very hard. Your sweat could not bring medals but your sweat has become an inspiration to crores of daughters of the country. I congratulate all the teammates and the coach and don't be disappointed.

When PM mentioned about the injury on the eye of a player Navneet, then the captain of the team said - 'G has got four stitches.' To this the PM said- 'Hey Baap Re I was watching him enough ... it is fine now. There is no problem to the eye, is it not… Salima, Vandana etc. have all done well.

When the PM heard the cry of the players, he said, 'Please stop crying. The voice is coming to me. Don't be disappointed at all. Hockey is being revived again due to your hard work. Don't get discouraged like this. During the conversation, coach Shored Marin also thanked the PM and said that his conversation has given the team a lot of strength.

Earlier, praising the performance of the women's hockey team, Modi on Friday said that even though the team may have missed out on a medal, it reflects the new India which is scaling new heights by performing at its best.
