PAK vs BAN: "We did not learn any lesson..." Pakistani captain gives big statement after shameful defeat against Bangladesh
After losing the second Test against Bangladesh, Shan Masood said, "It is very disappointing, we were excited for the home season.
Bangladesh has created history by winning the second match of the series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Tuesday by 6 wickets. This is the first time in Pakistan's Test history that the team has faced a white wash in a Test series at home against Bangladesh. Bangladesh won the first match of the series by 10 wickets, while the team won the second match by 6 wickets. Bangladesh had never been successful in winning a Test series against Pakistan before this. At the same time, after this shameful defeat of Pakistan, captain Shan Masood has given a big statement.
After losing the second Test against Bangladesh, Shan Masood said, "It is very disappointing, we were excited for the home season. The story is similar to Australia, we have not learned the lesson. We learned that we were playing good cricket in Australia but it was not working, we need to work on this. There have been four times in my tenure when we gave the opposing team a chance to come back, when we were dominating the match."
Pakistan had relied on fast bowlers for the first match, but that decision went against the team, after which the team changed the strategy. But there was no difference in the result. On this, Shan Masood said, "I think Test cricket demands something more in terms of fitness. We played 4 fast bowlers in the first Test and the reason for this was that we thought that the workload would be too much for three people to handle. And it was proved in this game when we lost a fast bowler in each innings. I think even in this Test match, there were only 3 bowlers and 2 spinners less, we could have done with one more fast bowler."
The Pakistani team could not bat well at home and about that Shan Masood said, "274 runs in the first innings was a good score, I and Sam Liton could have scored more runs. But we should have done better than keeping them at 26/6. This is something we need to work on and work fast. It is not all doom and gloom, there is always learning." On the other hand, regarding Shaheen and Naseem, Shan Masood said, "We have included Shaheen and Naseem back in the team, Shaheen has played continuously for a year in all formats and we cannot throw him in the deep end. But we need to be more fit, clean and better prepared. It is going to be a long Test and home season and we need to prepare better for England."
