New Delhi: Removing the doping dirt from Indian athletes, the Director General of National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) Navin Agarwal on Thursday said that athletes, who will be seen representing the nation in the Rio Olympics 2016, are all drug-free.

They said that almost all Indian athletes have undergone sample testing before the much awaited tournament.

NADA director general Navin Agarwal said-

  • All Rio-bound athletes have been tested. Some of the athletes have been tested at least once, some have been tested twice and some thrice.
  • Some athletes could not be tested on the second occasion because they were training abroad and in their case they have been tested at least once.

However, when it comes to doping rule violations, India is at no. 3 following Russia and Italy in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) issued list, which was unveiled last year.

Showing cautious attitude before any mishap, Agarwal guaranteed cleanliness of Indian athletes in the Rio Olympics.

Navin Agarwal said-

  • We also want to get rid of this status as the country which is third in the doping list.
  • We will continue to work towards ensuring that all our athletes are clean.
