Mary Kom Rio Olympics dream shattered as wild card entry denied

New Delhi: The last hope for securing a place in Rio Olympics crushed for Mary Kom as her wild card entry has been denied by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Previously, Olympic bronze medalist failed to qualify for the Rio tournament after facing a defeat in the second round of the World Championships.

Mary Kom, however, called her absence in the Rio Olympics, heartbreaking and said she will continue playing, till she is fit.

Mary Kom said-

· I have been duly informed that I am not getting a wild card for the Olympics.

· It is heartbreaking but it is something which I had no control on.

· I have to accept this decision. But, I am not quitting the sport right now.

· I will continue to compete till I am athletic.
