Kuldeep's four-for folds SL for 135, India enforces follow on

Kandy: India yet again has tighten the screw as Sri Lanka cricket team has been left in a precarious position by the Indian bowlers. In the lines of poor performance by Sri Lankan bowlers, its batsmen also disappointed in the middle as they never got going. Poor shot selection and sloppy run-outs triggered a batting collapse for SL on the second day of the third and final cricket Test match here on Sunday.

The islanders folded meekly for just 135 runs in the first innings and Indian captain Virat Kohli enforced follow-on Lankans. Sri Lanka, in its second inning, was 19/1 at stumps.

Proving as biggest thorn in Sri Lanka's flesh, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav claimed four-fer. Mohammed Shami and Ravi Ashwin bagged two-wicket each. Pandya picked the only wicket of Angelo Mathews.

Openers Dimuth Karunaratne (4) and Upul Tharanga (5) were dismissed inside five overs by pacer Mohammad Shami. Both batsmen were caught by stumper Wriddhiman Saha.

After 14/1, Kusal Mendis (18) came in the middle and tried to hold the innings together but a sloppy run out caused the damage and Mendis was sent back to the pavillion with the scoreboard reading 38/3.

Skipper Chandimal, however, played the ball to its merit but a poor shot selection from new batsman Angelo Mathews (0) saw Sri Lanka reeling at 38/4.

The Indian bowlers then produced a power-packed performance to bundle out Sri Lanka for 135 runs in the first innings with left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav leading the way with a four-wicket haul

After India enforced the follow-on some 90 minutes after the tea-break, Sri Lanka once again began on a poor note and lost their opener Upul Tharanga (7) -- bowed by Umesh Yadav -- with only 15 runs on the board.

Dimuth Karunaratne (12) Malinda Pushpakumara (0) were at the crease when umpires called off the day's play.

Earlier, India was dismissed for 487 shortly after lunch with opener Shikhar Dhawan (119) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (108) scoring handsomely for the visitors.
