Krunal Pandya tests COVID-19 positive, IND vs SL 2nd T20I postponed

The second T20I between India and Sri Lanka which was scheduled to be played on Tuesday (July 27) in Colombo has been postponed after Team India all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19.

The Indian bowling all-rounder and Mumbai Indians (MI) star has contracted the deadly disease on the eve of the 2nd T20I between the two world champions.

Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India side was scheduled to play Sri Lanka in the penultimate clash of the T20I series on Tuesday at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. In the wake of the recent COVID-19 scare in the Indian national camp, the 2nd T20I has been reportedly postponed by the match organisers.

According to a report filed by news agency ANI, it has been learned that the 2nd T20I between India and Sri Lanka can take place on Wednesday. "Krunal has tested positive and the T20I on Tuesday has been postponed and will happen on Wednesday if all the others test negative. The players are currently isolating," the source said.

As per the recent developments, players of both teams have been insisted to go into isolation. If members of both teams are tested negative, then the 2nd T20I between India and Sri Lanka can take place tomorrow. Earlier, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were named replacements for the upcoming Test series against England. Shaw and Suryakumar are currently in Sri Lanka and the recent COVID-19 scare at the national camp can delay the much-anticipated arrival of the two batsmen in England.
