Dublin: Some excellent batting helped India set record of getting to two back to back double hundreds in successive Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland at the Village ground here on Friday.

Despite losing skipper Virat Kohli (9 off 8, 1 four) early in the innings, Indian batsmen didn’t look in any pressure whatsoever piling up 57 runs in the powerplay overs. Lokesh Rahul was the highlight of India's top order batting as he scored a flamboyant 70 off only 36 balls with 3 fours and 6 humongous sixes.

Suresh Raina, who seemed to be struggling early in his inning, also ended up played a remarkable 69-run knock off only 45 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Rohit Sharma who was demoted to the No 4 position today, disappointed as he could not open his account off the two balls he faced.

Hardik Pandya also showed some blitzkrieg during the fag end of the inning scoring 32 runs off only 9 deliveries with 1 four and 4 gigantic sixes. Manish Pandey, though, scored 21 runs off 20 balls and remained unbeaten but never found the middle of his bat. He scored only 1 four in his inning and kept scoring at run-a-ball even during the slog overs.

Kevin O’Brian was the pick of the bowlers for Ireland as he picked up three wickets and reduced India's total at least by 20 runs as he dismissed all the set batsmen. He conceded 40 runs which included a 21-run final over of the inning. Peter Chase also picked up a wicket but went for 42 runs in four overs.

Simi Singh bowled just two overs and went for 32 runs while Dockrell gave 30 runs in his four overs.

It is not going to be easy to chase down a target as big as 214 runs when Ireland is not able to handle Indian wrist-spinners commendably.
