IPL 10 KXIP vs GL: 'Amla ka Hamla' cruises Punjab to 189/3

Mohali: Hashim Amla once again tuned on his rampage mode with the bat to help Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) post a huge score of 189/3 against Gujarat Lions (GL) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium here on Sunday.

Amla played a splendid inning of 104 runs off 60 balls and laced his inning with 8 fours and 5 sixes. This was his second hundred in the tenth edition of the cash rich league. His first hundred against Mumbai Indians had gone in vain as his team's bowlers had failed in defending the 199-run target.

Shaun Marsh also gave him great support and scored 58 runs off 43 balls with the help of 6 boundaries. The pair added 125 runs for the second wicket in 89 balls, after opener Martin Guptill (2) departed in the very first over of the match.

KXIP skipper Glenn Maxwell put his bat on the accelerator during the slog overs with his 11-ball 20-run inning. He decorated his knock with 2 sixes. Axar Patel, who came in to play the final delivery of the inning, scored 2 runs of it.

Despite Amla's aggressive batting, GL bowler Dhawan Kulkarni bowled an exceptional four-over spell conceding only 24 runs for the wicket of Marsh. Pradeep Sangwan went for 28 runs in his three overs despite getting dangerous Guptill in the very first over.

James Faulkner gave away 43 runs in his four overs and remained wicket-less. Ravindra Jadeja got to bowl only two overs which went for 19 runs. He also could not bag any wickets. Ankit Soni ended his three-over spell at 0/27.

The star-studded Gujarat Lions will soon be back on the ground to chase down a huge target of 190 runs.
