Kolkata: Following insane hitting by Sunil Narine in the start and Robin Uthappa's 72-run knock, Kolkata Knight Riders has set 188-run target for the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premiere League match at Eden Gardens here on Friday.

Uthappa's 48-ball inning was studded with eight fours and two sixes.

After being invited to bat, Sunil Narine played KKR's desired cameo and shown brutish display of power hitting. His valuable 17-ball 42-run knock was laced with nine fours and one six.

Both Gautam Gambhir and Narine planted quick-fire 45-run partnership for the first wicket, providing KKR an early advantage.

After the departure of Narine, Gambhir continued his good work and stitched 69-run stand with Robin Uthappa. Gauti was dismissed at the individual score of 33 runs. His 28-ball knock was laced with two fours and one six.

Manish Pandey failed to repeat last game's heroics and took 21 balls to score 24 runs at a time when KKR was in need of some power hitting. Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten at 11.

For GL, Praveen Kumar, James Faulkner, Basil Thampi and Suresh Raina claimed one-wicket each.
