After IPL, KL Rahul likely to miss ICC Champions Trophy

New Delhi: In what could be said as a major setback for the Indian Cricket team, KL Rahul is likely to miss the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, scheduled to begin post-IPL 10 in June.

Rahul is suffering from shoulder injury owing to which he has been ruled out of the Indian Premiere League 2017.

Rahul, himself, said that his chances of playing in Champions Trophy are very low.

“I will just have to wait and see but the chances are very, very slim," said the 25-year old to a leading English daily

“I had torn my labrum (a ring of fibrocartilage). I couldn’t get into a few positions because my shoulder kept dislocating – popped out and popped back in. That’s why I couldn’t play a lot of shots, had to restrict myself. I played with a lot of medication and taping. Surgery was to fix it on the inside," he added.

Calling the phase he is going through, frustrating, he said that he is missing several games due to injury despite being disciplined towards his fitness.

“I can’t see any reason why I keep getting injured because I am disciplined with my fitness and my diet and I look after my body. Now is the time to see what I can change in training," said Lokesh Rahul.

Lastly, Rahul played for India in the Test match against Australia in Dharamsala.
