Royal Challengers Bengaluru has registered its fifth consecutive win after yesterday's match. With this win, Bengaluru's hopes of reaching the playoffs are still alive. The 62nd match of IPL 2024 was played between RCB and Delhi in Bengaluru last night. The Bengaluru team defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 187 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. When the Delhi team came out to bat, it could not even play the entire over in reply to Bengaluru. Delhi team could score only 140 runs in 19.1 overs. After yesterday's win, Royal Challengers Bangalore have now reached fifth position on the points table.

If Bengaluru wins the match against Chennai (RCB vs CSK) on May 18, then its hopes of going to the playoffs will remain intact. But if Sunrisers Hyderabad or Lucknow Super Giants win their remaining matches, they will reach 16 points and there will be no benefit for Royal Challengers Bangalore to win against Chennai and they will be directly out of the race for the playoffs of this season of IPL. Will be out.

When Bengaluru will play its last match of this IPL season against Chennai Super Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 18th May. By then all the matches of Lucknow will have been completed and one match of Sunrisers Hyderabad will be left. If both the teams from Hyderabad and Lucknow are unable to reach 16 points then Royal Challengers Bangalore will have a chance to qualify. But Bengaluru will be able to qualify only if they score more than 200 runs and win the match by 18 runs or surpass Chennai's net run rate. Whatever happens, this battle will not be easy for Bengaluru. On the other hand, Rituraj Gaikwad's Chennai Super Kings has reached 14 points after defeating Rajasthan Royals in their last match. After which, if Chennai wins its last match against Bengaluru, then it will reach 16 points. With this victory, Chennai's chances of qualifying for the playoffs will also increase significantly. This is because the current net run rate of Chennai is much better than other teams.

Now RCB is going to play its last league match with CSK on May 18. Now in their last match, RCB will also have to focus on their net run rate. If RCB bats first against CSK and wins the match by 18 runs or with 11 balls remaining during the run chase, then the net run rate of RCB will be better than CSK. RCB can reach 14 points. The Bengaluru team will also have to keep an eye on the matches of Hyderabad and Lucknow. RCB would like both these teams to lose their respective matches. If Lucknow wins one of its two matches and loses the other, then RCB will have a chance to reach the playoffs. In such a situation, the match on May 18 will be like a virtual quarter-final between CSK and RCB.
