IPL 2018 MI vs KXIP: Pollard powers Mumbai to 186/8

Mumbai: Owing to a flamboyant half-century by Kieron Pollard, Mumbai Indians (MI) managed to post 186/8 in a do or die match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium here on Wednesday.

A bunch of MI batsmen got off to a good start but could not capitalize while skipper Rohit Sharma failed once again scoring 6 runs off 10 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav got a flying start scoring 27 runs off 15 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes, while his opening partner Evin Lewis (9 off 7) was clean bowled by a fantastic delivery by Andrew Tye. Tye bowled a fantastic spell picking up 4 wickets for only 16 runs in four overs.

Ishan Kishan also clicked scoring 20 runs off 12 balls but could not go long enough. He smashed 1 four and 2 sixes. Krunal Pandya was also looking good in his 32-run knock which came off 23 balls and was laced with 1 four and 2 sixes, but he also failed to last till the end.

Pollard played an outstanding inning of 50 runs off only 23 deliveries and smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes. Hardik Pandya also continued his poor run with the bat scoring only 9 runs off 12 balls.

Ben Cutting added 4 runs off 7 balls while Mitchell McClenaghan (11 9off 7, 1 four, 1 six) and Mayank Markande (7 off 5, 1 four) remained unbeaten.

KXIP captain Ravichandran Ashwin also bowled a remarkable spell off three overs picking up two wickets for 18 runs while Ankit Rajpoot and Marcus Stoinis went for too many runs but picked up a wicket each.
