Hyderabad: The mixed efforts of Rashid Khan, David Warner and Moises Henriques powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to an emphatic 9-wicket win over Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premiere League game at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium here on Sunday.

Skipper Warner played a breezy 45-ball 76-run knock with six fours and four sixes while Henriques' 52-run inning was laced with six boundaries.

Chasing the total of 135 runs, Warner, in his own fashion, provided SRH a firing start. Since the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan (9), GL failed to sent any batsmen back to the stands. Praveen Kumar took the only wicket of SRH.

After being invited to bat, Gujarat saw an early departure of Brendon McCullum (5). He was followed by captain Suresh Raina (5) and Aaron Finch (3).

The three big names were shown doors by Afghanistan 19-year old legspinning Messiah Abdul Rashid Khan who left GL completely on backfoot in the early overs of its inning. He got the purple cap and was given Man of the Match for his awe-inspiring spell of 3/19.

Dinesh Karthik and Dwayne Smith played face-saving knocks for their side following which GL posted a 135-run total.

Other than Rashid, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra picked two and one wicket respectively.

SRH has started their IPL campaign with two back-to-back wins while GL's hunt for the first win is still on.

Brief Score:

GL: 135/7 (Smith 37, Karthik 30; Rashid 3/19)

SRH: 140/1 (Warner 76, Henriques 52; Praveen 1/16)
