IPL 10 GL vs RCB: Chris Gayle missile destroys Gujarat; Bangalore posts 213/2

Rajkot: The Chris Gayle missile of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally blasted off and completely dismantled Gujarat Lions (GL) bowling to help his team notch up a huge first inning total of 213/2 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium here on Tuesday.

Gayle, who played a blistering 77-run knock off just 38 balls hitting 5 fours and 7 humongous sixes, was well accompanied by skipper Virat Kohli in a 122-run partnership for the first wicket. Kohli also scored 64 runs off 50 balls smashing 7 fours and a six, before getting out trying to hit Dhawal Kulkarni for a six over deep midwicket.

The wickets of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, however, caused damage to Royal Challengers Bangalore as Gujarat Lions succeeded in cutting short their total by at least 20 runs.

Trevis Head also played an aggressive inning of 30* runs off 16 balls, with 2 fours and 1 sixes, while Kedar Jadhav played some exceptionally astonishing shots during his 38-run inning that came off just 16 balls and was laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Basil Thampi impressed with his four-over spell conceding just 31 runs and getting the important wicket of Chris Gayle who was on a rampage mode. Dhawal Kulkarni also got a wicket but gave away 37 runs in his 4 overs.
