Visakhapatnam: Diwali becomes more festive for Indians with the Indian team thrashing New Zealand with huge margin of 190 runs in the fifth ODI at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium, here on Saturday. Men in Blue bowl out Black Caps for 79 to win the five-match series by 3-2.

It was Amit Mishra's five-wicket haul and Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli's combined effort in batting which kept Kiwis at backfoot throughout the game.

Chasing the total of 269 runs, NZ lost Guptill in the first over, who had become prey of Umesh Yadav's outswinger. Later, Amit Mishra came like a hurricane to NZ claiming five-wicket haul. Kiwi batsmen including Latham (19), Williamson (27), Taylor (19), Neesham (3), Watling (0), Anderson (0), Santner (4), Southee (0) and Sodhi (0) surrenedered to Indian bowling.

Earlier, India had scored 269 runs in 50 overs in the lights of Rohit and Kohli. Rohit took 65 balls in his 70-run knock while Kohli's 65-run inning was studded with two fours and a six. Rohit had hit five fours and three sixes in his terrific knock. Skipper Dhoni played 41-run knock. Kedar Jadhav (39) and Axar Patel (24) should also be given credit for helping India reach the total of 269 runs.

For NZ, Trent Boult, Ish Sodhi picked two wickets each while Neesham, Santner claimed single wicket each.
