IndvsNZ, 3rd ODI: Will batsmen make things for India?

Mohali: Indian bowlers have done their homework but the show of batsmen in the second Cricket One Day International has proved that they are overconfident and taking things casually. Yes, India, in most of the matches, has excelled whenever it came to run-chase and why not, they have two best match finishers in the squad, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. But, Dhoni’s principle of taking games deep is now hurting Men in Blue.

Indian skipper has taken 65 balls for scoring 39 runs which created pressure on Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav who tried their best to win game for India. Dhoni needs to promote himself as the finisher inside him is fading with time.

Rohit Sharma, who is the top run scorer for India in 2016, needs to play carefully as his presence means a lot for posting or chasing a big total.

Ajinkya Rahane is classy. He has got all the batting tools to do well for the side. But, he is failing to convert good starts into a big total. Indian team will rely on both the openers to provide a good start to the side.

Virat Kohli is a real charm who has scored runs for India in every condition. His dismissal in the last match was a shocker for him as he had hit such deliveries out of the park several times. He will look to continue his brilliance in Mohali encounter.

Manish Pandey was unlucky in the last game as got run out. He has remained phenomenal in the domestic and IPL Cricket as well. He needs to portray same to prove his ground in the coming International games.

In the absence of Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav will get yet another chance. He has shown his awesomeness with the bat and will try to continue it in the 3rd ODI.

The big game between India and New Zealand will be played at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here on Sunday.
