Kolkata: Indian Cricket team will look to continue its dominance on the Kane Williamson led New Zealand in the second Test match of the three-match series beginning September 30 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Indian team, which was at the top in the ICC Test Rankings during West Indies tour, would regain its spot if defeated Kiwis in the second Test encounter.

Gautam Gambhir, who has been re-called in the Indian team after KL Rahul’s injury, could also play a major part. Virat Kohli has to make a choice between Shikhar Dhawan and Gambhir. The left-handed batsman has remained impressive in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy while Dhawan has failed to prove himself despite getting several chances.

Indian batting looks strong with batsmen including Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara in the side. Rohit Sharma also played a crucial knock in the Kanpur Test while Jadeja is at his best. R.Ashwin and Saha are also playing their part.

Indian bowling will revolve majorly around Ashwina and Jadeja. Ashwin had claimed a 10-wicket haul while Jadeja was given the Man of the Match in the Kanpur Test for picking six wickets and scoring 92 runs for the side.

On the other hand, if New Zealand wants to get back into the game, it has to tackle Indian spin intelligently and calmly. NZ batsmen surrendered in front of Indian spin in the Kanpur Test.

As per the Met office reports, rain could play a spoil sport.

The squads:

India: Virat Kohli (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Amit Mishra, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Murali Vijay, Jayant Yadav, Gautam Gambhir

New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Doug Bracewell, Matt Henry, Luke Ronchi, Ish Sodhi, Henry Nicholls, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Jeetan Patel, Mitchell Santner, Ross Taylor, B.J. Walting
