IndvsEng: Supreme Court permits BCCI to release funds for Rajkot Test

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make an expenditure of Rs. 58.66 lakhs regarding the 1st Test match against England in Rajkot beginning November 9.

Earlier, owing to the Lodha Committee’s order of not releasing funds, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had told the Supreme Court that the first Test of the five-match series against England will have to be cancelled.

"If funds are not released, no cricket match will be played tomorrow and it may be cancelled," BCCI lawyer Kapil Sibal had told the court.
