IndvsEng: Dhoni hits 10th ton, India towards big total

Cuttack: Indian wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, after a gap of three long years, has smashed a ton (100*) in the second ODI of the three-match series at Barabati stadium here on Thursday. This is Mahi’s 10th century of his career so far.

Dhoni’s last ton came in a game against Australia in 2013. Having above 50 average in the 50-over format, MSD usually comes to bat in the final overs, one of the major reasons of his lesser tons in his 286 matches career.

On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh notched up his 14th ton before getting out at 150 runs. He last scored a hundred for India back in 2011 World Cup against West Indies in Chennai. He had scored 113 runs off 123 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.

Both Mahi and Yuvi shared 256 runs, which is all time second best partnership. India is 281/4 after 43 overs.

Few other records:

  • MS Dhoni now has ten 100+ stands with Yuvraj Singh in ODIs - most with any partner. He has gone past nine with Suresh Raina
  • Yuvi has become an only batsman scoring most runs for India against England in ODIs. He has surpassed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who scored 1455 runs.
  • Dhoni also becomes first batsman to hit 200 sixes in ODIs.
