New Delhi: Indian athlete Mohammad Anas has qualified for the upcoming Rio Olympics by breaking his own national record in the men's 400-metre on the second day of Polish Athletics Championship in Bydgoszcz.

The 21-year-old quarter miler from Kerala clocked 45.40 seconds, the exact Rio qualification timing, to become the 21st Indian track and field athlete to qualify for the upcoming Olympics.

He has now become the 100th athlete to book his berth for the Rio Olympics starting from August 5 to 21.

Anas had won a silver in the Federation Cup National Athletics Championships in April with a timing of 45.74 secs.
