Indian Hockey team climbs two spots in FIH rankings

New Delhi: Indian Hockey team, who gave a spectacular silver medal winning performance in the Champions Trophy, have climbed two spots to reach fifth ranking in the latest International Hockey Federation (FIH) rankings on Tuesday.

Indian team have reached the finals of the tournament, where they were defeated in the hands of defiant Australia. This was for the first time when India reached the finals of the Champions Trophy.

World Cup holders Australia, who won the Champions Trophy, have maintained their top spot in the rankings.

Following Australian Hockey team, Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain ranked second, third and fourth respectively.

The next update of the FIH World Rankings will be unveiled after the completion of much-awaited Rio Olympics 2016.
