Kolkata: In the first innings , it was pacer duo which did the damage while in the seconds innings, it was spinners pair of Ashwin and Jadeja which provided an able support to them bringing a spectacular victory for India against New Zealand in the second cricket test match played at Eden Gardens here. The victory also sealed the series for India as well as the top spot in the ICC test cricket rankings.

Starting the fourth innings of the match on a promising note chasing the target of 376 runs, New Zealand team had its nine wickets tumbling for just 93 runs. New Zealand got out for 197 runs giving an emphatic 178 run win to India. At one stage , the Kiwis were 104 for one but the loss of the wicket of Nicholls saw the flood gates opened for Indian bowlers to sneak in.

Thanks to some incisive spin bowling by Jadeja and Ashwin, the visitors were nowhere to be matched and it was an abject surrender of the batting line up which was depleted a bit in the absence of Ken Williomson.

Earlier resuming from 227 for 8, the Indian team folded its second innings at 263 setting a tough but achievable target of 376 runs on the pitch with uneven bounce. Saha remained unbeaten in the second innings also with his second fifty of the match.
