Kolkata: India dethroned Pakistan to claim the first spot in the ICC Test Cricket ranking, following its 178 runs win over New Zealand in the second test match played at the Eden Gardens here on Monday.

Pakistan had for the first time achieved the top place in August since after the ranking system was introduced in the year 2003.

Meanwhile, if India clean sweeps the ongoing series against New Zealand or even if the third and the last match draws, Pakistan would be far away from clinching the first spot in near future.

This certainly is cheerful news for India as after Indian Army’s successful surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) to kill terrorists hiding their bases in Pak, the cricket team of India now beats Pakistan in the ranking table.
