Indore: Rohit Sharma blasted the fastest Twenty20 International (T20I) century off just 35 balls to power India to a gigantic total of 260/5 against Sri Lanka at the Holkar Cricket Stadium here on Friday.

Rohit scored 118 runs off only 43 balls and hit 12 fours and 10 massive sixes to dismantle Lankan bowling with ease. Lokesh Rahul also played a fantastic knock of 89 runs off only 43 balls hitting 5 fours and 8 sixes. The opening duo added 165 runs in only 12.4 overs, which laid the foundation of a tremendous total.

Rohit Sharma now shares the record for the fastest T20I hundred with South African middle-order batsman David Miller. India's total of 260/5 is the second highest team total in T20Is after Australia's 263 vs Sri Lanka in 2016.

MS Dhoni also played an important inning of 28 runs, though, he took 21 balls for his inning. He smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. Hardik Pandya played an explosive cameo hitting a six and a four before getting out on the third delivery he faced at 10 runs.

Shreyas Iyer failed to open his account as he was dismissed for a golden duck. Manish Pandey scored one run off the only delivery he faced while Dinesh Karthik scored 5 runs off 2 balls with 1 boundary.

Indian batsmen smashed 21 sixes in the inning.

Nuwan Pradeep and Thisara Perara bagged two wickets each while Dushmantha Chameera managed to get one wicket.

The only positive Sri Lanka has with them in this match is that they won the toss and elected to field first. In past seven T20 matches, the team chasing has won six and has lost only one.
