India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday became the joint second-fastest Indian bowler along with Ravindra Jadeja to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket during the fourth day's play of the fourth Test against Australia (IND vs AUS) here. He is the first bowler in the world to achieve this feat at an average of less than 20. Bumrah took his 200th wicket of Travis Head (01) in the post-lunch session, equaling Jadeja in the list of fastest bowlers to 200 wickets in Test cricket. Both Bumrah and Jadeja achieved this feat in their 44th Test and he is the 12th Indian bowler to achieve this feat in Test cricket.

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has become the highest wicket-taker in the current ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 ​​cycle. The 31-year-old Bumrah surpassed teammate and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin during the third Test against Australia at the Gabba. Bumrah has 74 wickets in 14 Tests, while Ashwin, who announced his retirement at the end of the third Test on Wednesday, has 63 wickets in 14 Tests.

On the first day of the fourth Test, Bumrah performed brilliantly by taking 3 wickets for 75 runs in 34 overs. After this, Bumrah also wreaked havoc in the second innings against Australia, starting by sending Sam Costans to the pavilion and then sending Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey to the pavilion, breaking Ravichandran Ashwin's record of 71 wickets in the WTC cycle (2019-21) for taking the most wickets for India in a single cycle of the World Test Championship (Most Wicket by an Indian Bowler in a Single WTC Season). The current Border-Gavaskar Trophy is tied at 1-1. Bumrah has taken 29 wickets, making him the highest wicket-taker in the five-match series.
