ICC has recently announced the pitch rating for each match of the Border-Gavaskar series between Australia and India. Australia won the 5-Test series played between Australia and India 3-1. During this series, many questions were raised about the behavior of the pitch, but now ICC has given its decision regarding the pitch. ICC has given 'very good' rating to the pitch of all five matches out of the five matches of the Test series, which is considered the highest on ICC's pitch ranking scale. The pitches of Perth Stadium, Adelaide Oval, Gabba and Melbourne Cricket Ground have been given 'very good' rating by ICC.

In 2023, the ICC reformed its pitch rating system, reducing it from six categories to four, under which rating of very good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory and unsuitable was fixed.

CA's Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling Peter Roach said, "We are pleased with the quality of the pitches prepared for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and are grateful for the hard work of the curators and venues across the country. We encourage pitches that bring out the unique features of that venue and this has long been a feature of Australian cricket. We firmly believe that this is why Test cricket is so popular in Australia."

Australia has won the Border-Gavaskar series after 10 years. India won the first Test match by 295 runs but lost the second Test match by 10 wickets, after which the third Test match which was played in Brisbane ended in a draw. After this, India had to face defeat in Melbourne and Sydney.
