ICC Test rankings: Ashwin, Jadeja share top spot, Virat drops

New Delhi: Following their remarkable performance in the second Test against Australia, Indian Cricket team spin duo R Ashwin and R Jadeja have scripted a history by attaining the top spot jointly in the ICC Test rankings.

This is after nine years that any spin pair has held the top spot jointly. Earlier, South African pacer Dale Steyn and Sri Lanka spin sensation Muttiah Muralidaran have shared the top spot in April, 2008.

After an upsetting performance with the bat in the two Tests against the Kangaroos, Indian run machine Virat Kohli suffered a loss of one place to third in the ICC Test rankings. England skipper Joe Root is at the second spot while Australia captain Steve Smith is leading the table with 939 points.

India will lock horns with Australia in the third of the four-Test match series, beginning from March 16, at JSCA International Stadium Complex stadium in Ranchi.
