New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra won gold medal in javelin throw in the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj Chopra is now at the second position in the world rankings with 1315 points. Before the Olympics, he was in 16th place. German javelin thrower Johannes Vetter is at first position, who has 1396 points to his name. However, Johannes Vetter could not win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, as his throws continued to deteriorate.

Neeraj Chopra ranked World No. 2:

In the world javelin throw rankings, Johannes Vetter is in first place, Neeraj Chopra is second and Poland's Marcin Krukowski is in third place. Jacob Wadlejch of the Czech Republic is at the fourth position. At the same time, Julian Weber of Germany is in fifth place. The surprising thing is that except Neeraj Chopra, no top 5 player has won a medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj was on the first, while the second and third were occupied by the players of the Czech Republic.

Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic won the silver medal by throwing 86.67m javelin in Tokto Olympics 2020. At the same time, Vítzslav Veselý of the Czech Republic managed to win the bronze medal with a throw of 85.44 meters. Germany's Julian Weaver missed the podium finish by just 14 cm.

"I didn't think about gold but to be honest, your world ranking does not matter once you reach the Olympics. I used to believe that it is completely dependent upon what kind of a day you are having, and now I am even firmer in that belief," Neeraj said in an interview.

Neeraj Chopra won the country's seventh medal and first gold in Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj joined shooter Abhinav Bindra (2008 Beijing Games) as India's individual gold winner in the sports arena. His performance will surely be remembered forever in Olympics history.
