Flamengo beat Coritiba 2-1 in Brazil Serie A

Rio de Janeiro: Former Brazil midfielder Everton Ribeiro converted a late penalty as the Rio city football club Flamengo defeated Coritiba 2-1 in Brazil's Serie A championship.

Colombian forward Orlando Berrio opened the scoring on Saturday for the hosts before Henrique Almeida netted an equalizer just after halftime.

Ribeiro held his nerve from the spot in second-half stoppage time after Vinicius Junior, who signed a deal in May to join Real Madrid next year, was brought down in the box by Marcio Leite.

In Saturday's only other match, Chapecoense won 2-1 at Vitoria, thanks to goals from Reinaldo and Lourency.
