Sydney: After losing Test series by 2-1, Australia won first ODI by 34 runs against India at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), here on Saturday.

Australian coach Justin Langer would be very proud of his boys as they did fine job by winning their first game against India.

It is to be mentioned that out of 13 ODIs they won only 2 matches last year. And with this win, they've got a terrific opportunity to seal the series in the next game or maybe in the final ODI.

Jhye Richardson has been declared as the ‘Man of the Match’. He is very happy that he got Indian captain Virat Kohli's wicket but he is happier with the win.

Aussies will be happy to kickoff the World Cup year on a winning note.

Aussies gave a huge score of 289 runs to India, where in response India made only 254 runs. Vice captain of Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma anchored India’s innings with a breezy 129-ball 133, laced with 10 fours and six sixes to achieve the target but India lost its first ODI.

Australia-288/5, (Peter Handscomb 73, Usman Khawaja 59, Shaun Marsh 54; Kuldeep Yadav 2/54, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/66) beat India-254/9 (Rohit Sharma 133, Mahendra Singh Dhoni 51; Jhye Richardson 4/26, Jason Behrendorff 2/39), by 34 runs.
