Sydney: Indian wicket-keeper and batsman, Rishabh Pant, on Friday has broken Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 12-year-old record of being the only Indian wicket-keeper who scored the highest run in an overseas Test.

To cross the milestone set by Dhoni, the 21-year-old Pant smashed Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood for a superb boundary. Pant was batting at 145, when he broke Dhoni’s record by 3 runs.

Pant (159 not out) smashed 15 4s and one 6, while playing 189 balls.

It is to be mentioned that in 2006 Dhoni had scored 148 against Pakistan in Faisalabad.

Rishab Pant’s performance in International cricket

-Rishab Pant started his T20 career against England at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on February 1, 2017.

- He was the youngest player for India to debut in a T20 match at the age of 19 years 120 days before Washington Sundar who played at the age of 18 years 80 days made his debut in 2017.

-Pant also started his Test career against England on August 18 , 2018.

-He became the first batsman for India to get off the mark in Test cricket with a six.

-On September 11, 2018, he scored his maiden Test century, against England.

-He is the second-youngest wicket-keeper and the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test century in England.

-Pant made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies on October 21, 2018.

-Pant is the first wicket-keeper for India to score a century in a Test match in Australia on Friday, during the fourth Test against Australia.
